In 2019, We saw what began as the extinction of sedan vehicles. Companies such a Chevy, BMW, and plenty other car manufacturers started to make the switch from a car based platform to heavier emphasis on Trucks, SUV’s and Crpss-Over Vehicles. As we round off the year and move into 2023, let's revisit 5 of the top Sedan’s from the 2022 model year.
Lets be honest, how does the 2022 Dodge Charger not make the list. It’s literally the most versatile sedan on this list. Easily one of the best selling vehicles over the last decade, the good people in Detroit knocked this one out the park. The hype, the options, it seems like everybody has one, but no two are the same.
For 2022, the American Sedan Bully has a starting base price of around $32k, which has jumped over previous models. The Charger offers 5 different trim levels,to fit the needs of each driver. The GT and SXT offer a 3.6L VVT engine, and the GT has an available AWD suspension for slippery situations. Looking for more of a thrill? Step into the sportier R/T model, with a 5.7L Hemi Engine. Still need some extra horses? Enter the Scat Pack, with a 6.4L Hemi engine. If you’re a total thrill-seeker, the 707 HP of the 6.2L Hellcat engine is for you. Both the Scatpack and Hellcat have a widebody variation that adds aggression to this already loud street menace.
When BMW redesigned the 3 Series, they made a sleek, and elegant midsize vehicle, that even 5-Series and 7-Series drivers can FINALLY be proud of. The best variation of the 3-Series is the M340 Sedan. Performance, Aggression, and head turning capabilities, without shelling out M-Series money.
With a starting price of right around $55k, an M340i will come in right about $15k cheaper than its beefier new sibling, the M3. This puppy comes stock with an Inline 3.0L 6 Cyl, and just under 400 Horses. The drivetrain also features xDrive capabilities, and the cockpit of the vehicle is absolutely stunning. It truly is, the Ultimate Driving Machine.
Nicknamed the “Perfect” Sedan, the 2022 Audi A6 is the perfect drivers sedan. Audi is known for making vehicles that drive like no other, and the A6 is no different. At a starting price of $55k, and a wide range of options to choose from, the A6 is luxury sedan that will have you hooked on one drive.
The A6 offers 2 variations for engines, a 4 CYL 2.0 and a turbocharged V6 3.0. Both are powerful engines that produce quick responses, and the technology in this vehicle is stellar. Audi continues to lead in the technology department, with groundbreaking infotainment systems, Apple CarPla/Android Auto. It's any driver’s dream.
Let’s be honest, this isn't your father’s Caddy. The CT-5 packs attitude. It's the punch-in-the-mouth to the competition of sports sedans. If you’re lucky enough to grab the Blackwing package, you’ll be blown away by its performance. Its safe to say that after the Northstar days, Cadillac finally got it right.
Now while the base model CT-5 starts around $39k, the fun really lives in the Blackwing Package. This beast boasts a 6.2L V8 Engine, straight out of the ZL1 Camaro, and Corvette. 668 Horses come together to make this bad boy purr, and boy does it make a joyful noise. Second to only, the Dodge Charger Hellcat.
I Know you're probably thinking, How did a Kia make this list? Lets be honest, Good Cars, are Good Cars. No matter who makes them. And the Kia K5 is just that. While it may not be in the price bracket as some of the other vehicles on this list, it is equally as sleek, headturning, and fun to drive as some of its luxury counterparts.
Base models provide a 1.6L 4 Cyl for daily driving, and the GT model has a 2.5L 4 Cyl, pushing out almost 300 Horses. With staples like the Optima, and Stinger, Kia continues to dominate the sedan market with the K5.
If I have to choose one, I’m going with the BMW M340i. It's not the most expensive vehicle, but packs a nice punch if you're looking for the best mixture of the both. It's surprisingly quick, comfy, and provides the perfect balance between performance and luxury. It also blends like a regular BMW, making for some great sleeper action. xDrive makes it applicable in all weather conditions. You can't go wrong with the bad ass that is the M340i.
